White Trumpet flowers covered with raindrops on a wet almost autumn day, a perfect day for immersing myself in editing my novel “Heart Seasons: A Journey of Miracles.”
I’m sitting in my office with the window wide open, listening to the peaceful sounds of the soft rain. It’s both comforting and inspiring and makes the process even more enjoyable.
I love editing as much as I love writing. I love taking the raw words and molding them into the vision I have in my mind, or even better. It’s gratifying to watch the story evolve as God works, it is magical. In the case of “Heart Seasons,” so far, it has resulted in a sub-title change and reworking the focus of one part of the story. So the process goes.
It’s similar to how it feels to transform a food photograph for my blog into something mouth-watering with image editing. Or like combining all the ingredients of a new muffin recipe and waiting to see what comes out of the oven.
Sometimes what you end up with is amazing and sometimes you take your cursor, highlight 500 words of text and then hit the delete key. Or you delete dozens of photos before finding the right one. Or you dump a whole batch of muffins in the trash and start over. For me all of this is FUN!
This is why I love the rain in the Pacific Northwest!
