Spring Showers Bring Colorful Flowers

It has definitely been one long winter season here in the Pacific Northwest. The National Weather Service in Portland, Oregon is quoted as saying Portland has experienced the most wet days EVER, with over 150 days of rain since October 1, 2016. In addition to the rain, we’ve had more freezing cold days this winter than I can remember in my lifetime.

This pretty patch of Spring Flowers brings a little brightness to an otherwise long cold wet winter and now the gray wet spring. I always say I appreciate the continuous rain in our part of the country, since that’s what gives us the beautiful luscious green Pacific Northwest, but it’s time for a break. We’ll take a few days of blue skies please!

Look at those gray clouds in the background of the above photo. It makes me think of one of Lily’s lines in “Heart Seasons: The Rainbow Revelation.”

“I felt if I had to endure many more days under those gray skies I’d soon be browsing brochures at the North Coast Travel Agency looking for a tropical island getaway and booking tickets for both Ryan and myself.”

Enjoy some of the beautiful foliage along my daily walk as the seasons change and the world around us begins to come back to life. It’s a deep breath of fresh air to be able to spend time outside once again. Spring is my favorite time of year!
