Where the Columbia River Meets the Pacific Ocean

Welcome to the Hammond Marina near where I grew up on the Northern Oregon Coast and where the mighty Columbia River meets the vast Pacific Ocean.

These fantastic photos were taken from Seafarers’ Park in Hammond Oregon by my sister-in-law Nina and I want to thank her so very much for sharing her photos with us!

Hammond is a tranquil little known town on the northernmost point of the state of Oregon, called Point Adams.

The town is also the location of two historical ruins. The wreck of the Peter Iredale and the remains of Fort Stevens both will bring images of the past to your imagination if you should have the opportunity to visit.

The ship in the distance is traveling from Astoria to the mouth of the Columbia River and into the Pacific Ocean. What a spectacular event to watch, even if only through photographs.

This photo is inspirational to me and brings a sense of how amazing God is. The mighty river, the massive ship surrounded by swarms of brown pelicans and the pastel colors of pink and blue in the sky.

As the ship turns West and heads towards the ocean, I am moved to wave goodbye and I feel a moment of peace.

Peace is the perfect remedy while I patiently wait for my replacement laptop to arrive and I will once again have what I need technically to be able to post food photographs.

I almost feel as if I were there with my brother and sister-in-law as they watch the ship disappear into the setting sun on a relaxing summer evening in July.

Today is Nina’s birthday! Happy Birthday Nina!!
