Oranges, tangerines and clementines are winter fruits and add a sunny brightness to a dark winter season day. One of my favorite fruits, they’re wholesome and loaded with nutrients and are a great way to get your citrus fix this winter.
Juicy and sweet and rich in vitamin C, oranges make a great snack, but I love to add them to recipes whenever I can. They pair perfectly with dark chocolate, too!
Vitamin C is vital for the proper function of a healthy immune system and is said to prevent colds. Oranges also have a wide variety of phytonutrients, which are shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, as well as strong antioxidant effects.
Oranges are a very good source of dietary fiber. Fiber is known for improving digestion and may lower cholesterol. In addition, oranges are a good source of B vitamins including vitamin B1, pantothenic acid and folate. They also contain vitamin A, calcium, copper and potassium. Enjoy a variety of healthy oranges throughout the winter season.
