A major milestone birthday is the perfect excuse to add to my kitchen collection and I didn’t mind taking full advantage of the opportunity this year.
I’d rather have a new kitchen appliance than jewelry. I’m so excited with my choices I just had to share them with you!
First, the popular “Instant Pot.” A few friends and family members already have some version of this appliance and everyone is thrilled with what they can do with it. It’s the appliance to have right now, so I’d love to hear any great stories you have to share about using yours.
This Instant Pot is a 6-in-1 and offers a Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Sauté, Steamer and Warmer, with a food grade stainless steel cooking pot. It’s also available in a 7-in-1 or 8-in-1 appliance.
The Instant Pot 6-in-1 Programmable 6-Quart Multi-Use Cooker features “10 Smart Built-In Programs for Soup/Broth, Meat/Stew, Cake, Egg, Sauté, Rice, Multigrain, Porridge, Steam and Slow Cook, your favorite dishes are as easy as pressing a button.” My mind is full of plans for future recipes with this amazing device, the options are endless.
Next, the RSVP Endurance Superior Quality 18/8 Stainless Steel Spice Spoons with Narrow Measure to Fit Most Spice Jars in 6 of the most popular sizes. I’ve been admiring this set for a while, especially when trying to get a tablespoon of cinnamon out of a normal size spice jar with the traditional round spoons. I can’t wait to use them.
Then, there is this Cole & Mason Mini Salt and Pepper Grinder Set. These were entirely an impulse purchase and will strictly be used as a food photography prop. They’re only 2.5 inches tall and are just adorable.
Finally, I’ve saved the best for last. As my collection of food photography props has grown over the last few years, I’ve found myself wasting time searching different areas of my kitchen and other parts of my house every time I do a photo shoot to find just the right props. It really does interfere with the creative flow when I can’t find what I had in my mind.
Because of that, I’ve been imagining a cabinet with glass doors to hold my props, making them easily accessible to choose from during a photo session and that’s exactly what my husband gave me for my birthday. My brother and sister-in-law found the cabinet at IKEA and picked it up and put it together for us.
My 65th birthday was a major milestone for sure and I want to thank my family and friends for making it a special one!
