I love what I read recently, that raspberries are known as nature’s candy. It’s so true! With their rich color, delicate juicy sweet slightly tart taste and antioxidant power, it’s not surprising that raspberries are one of the world’s most consumed berries.
You can eat raspberries on their own as a snack or as part of a meal or dessert. They are wonderful in smoothies, adding vitamins and minerals and dietary fiber. They are also a great addition to salads, side dishes and as a sauce or garnish for main dishes.
Raspberries are available fresh, frozen, freeze-dried, in jams and jellies, and in fruit spreads. I always have “Just Fruit Spread” with no processed sugar added on hand and often have the berries frozen in my freezer for an easy quick addition to a dessert or any real food meal. Choose organic raspberries whenever possible to avoid toxins.
Raspberries are low in calories, sugar and fat, are cholesterol-free and are an excellent source of dietary fiber and vitamin C. These berries also contain powerful antioxidants and are a heart-healthy food. A little known bit of fun trivia I recently learned is raspberries are the symbol for kindness.

I like to “Eat the Seasons” and now is the time for fresh raspberries. Raspberry season runs from June to October, so there’s plenty of time to enjoy this popular fruit.
