This Christmas Season and the coming New Year both have very different meanings to me this year than ever before. First of all, I’m currently in the 7th Cycle of an 8 Cycle Chemotherapy program. My last full treatment will begin on New Year’s Eve and continue for three days, with an additional week or so to recover from the side effects.
Then, not long after that final chemo treatment, a new CT Scan will be administered. And on January 13th 2020, we will meet with my doctors and, with their input, Hubby and I can decide what the plan will be going forward. There are a few options depending on what the test results tell us, but I’m most looking forward to something resembling a normal life again. It’s been a very long time!
The second major change this holiday season is this is our first Christmas without Mom. When we were growing up, Mom always worked hard to make Christmas very special for us. Even during the years when the family didn’t have a lot, Mom was amazing at making things special. I strongly feel the emptiness her absence has created, but I also feel she is watching over me. One of my Angels!
2019 has been a year full of major unbelievable challenges and having it come to an end is just fine with me. Any one or two of the events would have been a lot to deal with, but we’ve had them all in one year!!
Catch up on the trials we’ve gone through during the last year in the following posts:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All!
“These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor...” 1 Peter 1:7, NLT
